A confident confession of his feelings.
"I won't be avoiding the rumors surrounding my past. I'll be facing them head on. I have nothing to be afraid of."

On the 31st, Park Jaebum met with Sports Korea for an interview with a confidence face. As if he's determined to tell everything, he expressed his feelings slowly but surely.

"I'm not afraid of any rumors or hateful replies. If I was afraid of them, I wouldn't have returned. I'm trying to turn all that negative energy into something positive. Instead of hesitating, I'd rather just focus on how to pay back the love my fans have given me."

Throughout the hour long interview, Park Jaebum showed confidence the entire time. Even when sensitive questions were asked, he concluded all of his answers on his own despite the nervous looks given to him by his company representatives. He seemed to not care at all about the many rumors that have been surrounding him.

"Instead of avoiding them, I'm the type to just face them head on. I can't control the questions that are being asked about my past but I can think of it in a positive way and try to show them the good sides of me. Instead of going out of my way to bring back the past, I want to show them new sides of me."

Park Jaebum also expressed his concerns about his image becoming too commercial which is why he's heavily thinking over the CF love calls he's been receiving. He plans to focus on being a singer for now with his Asia tour and to solidify his position as a 'solo' Park Jaebum.

"A while ago, I read an article that said 'Count On Me' recorded so and so amount of money. It's not true at all. I have no intention of moving through just economic logic. It's a lot of pressure for me whenever the focus of my career is pinpointed on commercial aspects."

He went on to state, "As I went through my hardships, it made me look around myself. I realized that I cannot do anything alone. I'm so glad that my fans respect my opinion and even go as far as to collect and donate rice to charity at my events instead of putting up congratulatory standing flowers. I, too, am discussing with my agency in donating my profits from music to charity."

After completing the interview, Jaebum's face expression looked a tone brighter. His foot steps also seemed light, as if he had brushed off the weight from his shoulders.

"I'm going on the plane to America at 6 PM." He gave a smile and added, "I miss my parents."

While waiting for the elevator, fans flooded out of the offices around us with pens and papers. Jaebum's manager stepped forward and blocked them, excusing Jaebum by saying, "We're in a rush to the airport."

However, Jaebum denied his manager's statement and carefully signed each autograph, even agreeing to hug requests.

"I've realized how warming and precious the love of my fans are."

That was Jaebum's last greeting before the doors of the elevator closed.

What's next for 'acting idol' Taecyeon? Movies or dramas?

After completing his acting debut with KBS drama 'Cinderella Sister,' much attention is being put on what 2PM Taecyeon's next move will be.

Omitted Cinderella Sister summary.

Afterward, Taecyeon has been receiving love calls from movies and drama producers as an 'actor,' not '2PM's member.' Various associates have been showing their greed in the competition to cast him, having fallen charm to his potential and talent as an actor.

Then what will be his next project? Taecyeon is currently the freshest and hottest topic amongst movie producers. According to an associate of Taecyeon's agency, Taecyeon has been receiving an unending pouring of drama scripts and movie scenarios. He's still in discussion as to whether he'd like to go into another drama or try the big screen.

One movie associate met with OSEN recently and stated, "Taecyeon has been receiving love calls for most of the big drama titles set to be released next year. However, there are just as many movie producers that are eyeing him so there's a high chance that he'll be picking a movie as his next move. He's still discussing a lot of different projects right now."

An associate of JYP Entertainment stated,"It is true that he's been receiving consistent casting offers from both dramas and movies. He's got a strong determination to work as an actor and he's definitely got the passion for it so we'll be deciding on his next project soon in order to continue his acting career. We're still discussing a lot of movies and dramas."

As Taecyeon continues to walk on the top of the Korean music industry as a 2PM member, much anticipation is being put on his next project and how he'll further build himself as an actor.

[NEWS] 100822 The Return of the Dark Idol : Jaebum, Dramatic title makes you want to click it.

CREDITS: VOGUE (SOURCE); JINASTAR @ ITSJAYPARK.COM (TRANS).
PLEASE TAKE WITH FULL CREDITS! ^^

The Return of the Dark Idol

Park Jaebum has returned. After 1 year since he'd left Korea. He is the main character of a legend made from the Korean fandom's history, himslef, and his fandom's fantastically overlapping chemical reactions. I met him in Naksan. Will this main character of this dramatic life be able to call on the cheers of the public again?

Last August 7th, Park Jaebum stood on the stage of 'Summer Week & T' that opened in Naksan. When he sung 'Count on Me', the audience all screamed their support. There was a fan that held up a placard that said "Jaebum-ah, I waited for you". Park Jaebum has returned. He performs in front of his fans. It is an occurence that has happened for the first time in the year since he'd left Korea last year because of his Korea-degrading comments. He is the Park Jaebum, who, near the start of this year, his ex-management company JYPEntertainment (a.k.a. JYP) has made withdraw permanently. However, he has actually gained a bigger commercial potential since he'd left 2PM. 'Count on Me' had sweeped up all the music charts. Recently, he'd signed a contract for a CF, and finally signed a contract with Sidus HQ, which one could call more influential than JYP. Also, according to the Jaebum met in the press conference before the 'Summer Week & T' concert, he is in the situation where he could make "my music, my dancing, and my hairstyle however I want". There was never a case like this where an idol had such a passionate fandom like this and enjoyed so much freedom. People who put up hateful replies and comments and idol-phobes won't be able to understand this. However, Jaebum seems to know the reason for this. "It's not because I did things well, or because I'm amazing. I think it's all because of the fans. Really... I can't express this through words. How thankful I am. I promise I'll pay back all this someday." His way of speaking was so calm that it sounded indifferent, but it was different from the forced customary way of exaggerating one's love for fans.

In reality, Jaebum's fans showed such a tremendous reaction to the 'Nothing on You' video he'd posted on YouTube, which made the musical copyright holder, Warner Brothers, exceptionally suggest making a remake of the song in Asia, and 'Count on Me' had a crucial part in getting Jaebum to come back. In mathmatical values, it is 1<6. notebook=""> revealed that a significant number of Jaebum's writings to be mistranslated, and Jin Joong Kwon (T/N: progressive critic of culture, university/college professor, and philosopher) criticized Korea's peculiar patriotism, going as far as saying "The public has to apologize to Jaebum". It is reasonable that one criticize an idol star for spewing out his discontent while having trouble adjusting to Korean life during his 10's. However, it wasn't something that should lead to a banishment-like departure. For his 'personal life problem', there wasn't that was revealed for sure. We're talking about Korea, in which for a celebrity, they have to be ready to face minihompy-hacking and paparazzi. As long as the existence of the 'serious personal life problem' is not confirmed, there is no reason for Jaebum's fans to be embarrassed about liking him, or ostracize him.

On the other hand, it is clear why them (the fans) have chosen Jaebum instead of 2PM. JYP opened a conference between 2PM and their fans after informing them of Jaebum's permanent withdrawal. In the conference, 2PM attacked Jaebum. In 2PM's shoes, it is reasonable that they hate Park Jaebum who put the team's reputation in danger. JYP might have thought that words from members, rather than their own announcement, might soothe and persuade the fans more. However, the conference was something that a company that puts idol fandoms as their 'customers' should have never done. Especially for a group like 2PM, which the main reason for their popularity was because of the unique fantasy of the idol fandom. JYP tied the dance group 2PM and ballad group 2AM in the same group under the name 'brother groups'. The first reality show they appeared in was M.Net's , where the 2AM/2PM-to-be trainees were rounded up and put into a training camp. Also, the point where 2PM started making its main fandom was when MBC Everyone's was aired. 'Again & Again', which was released after that, took 1st place in real-time music charts right after being released. In , they played together like mischievous children, and showed their characters in that time. The reason Jaebum has the iconic meaning of being 2PM's leader was because he excelled as 'Leadja' who regulated the relationships between members on camera. Where idols' solo activities have become to be known as normal, 2PM had shown the ideal male community fantasy. This was similiar to how had gained full support from female students, and how g.o.d. had gained explosive popularity through MBC's . In reality, fans compared them to the characters of , and talk circulated that the old fans of Shinhwa and g.o.d. were eying 2PM. At this, the owner of JYP, Park Jinyoung, positioned himself as their 'hyung' through pictures that he posted on the internet. The idol group that was funny if the members were just gathered in one place, and had good relationships from the CEO to the idol members. They were the first classic idol that had appeared after Shinhwa and g.o.d..

Of course, it could be just the fans' fantasy. However, this fantasy, the hopeful anticipation that this idol community that had provided the reason to 'be a fan' could rise to the top, had put 'Again & Again' and 'I Hate You' on the top. The only thing that was left was making a 'daebak' out of the next album and performing a coronation. 2PM was an opportunity to resuscitate the idol group that the fandom raised and reflect the emotions of fans. Jaebum's withdrawal was not 2PM's other members' fault. However, former H.O.T. member Kangta had said on MBC's , "I thought that when we broke up, my fans would decrease to about 1/5ths of the original number, but that wasn't the case". Fantasies shrivel up as soon as it breaks. The reason Shinhwa is counted as a 'legend' in idol fandoms is because they kept up the group for 12 years, breaking through many complicated problems in that time. Also, JYP emphasized 2PM's 'loyalty' after Jaebum's withdrawal. The album title at that time was '1:59', which portrayed 2PM as incomplete, and fans kept foretelling Jaebum's comeback. The story where the broken-apart 6 members wait for the leader who had become the unwilling outsider. There was not a more perfect idol fantasy than this.

However, after the conference, the fans' fantasy completely broke apart. The company and members weren't a community that kept together until death. Members were just employees that could be fired on circumstance, and fans were 'customers' that could just leave if they wanted. In that moment, the dream about idols went over to Jaebum. Putting the forced withdrawal and conference as his starting point, he took not only 1/7ths which was his share, but all the fantasy the idol fandom put into 2PM. The fact that Jaebum had recorded over 40 thousand album sales, which is a measure for the mass of the fandom, was impossible to attain with just Park Jaebum's personal fans from his 2PM times. In their point of view, the identity of 2PM had lead not to the remaining six, but to Jaebum. There is a reason that 2PM appeared in dramas and variety shows with the public awareness they had after revealing 'Without You', meeting with the public masses outside of their fandom. However, Jaebum could still communicate directly with the fandom who still supported him, and through this, 'Nothing on You' became a hot issue on YouTube and set a stepping stone towards his return. In the shoes of his fandom, he is a sort of fantasy idol. He is an idol that communicates with his fans, and is raised by his fans, and even while signing a contract with a giant management company still had the freedom of choosing his own music. An idol that does the music he wanted to do and still says "The reason I could come back was because of the fans" was a thing that the people who had 'fan-ned' since the H.O.T. times could only dream of.

Ironically, Jaebum became the most idolistic idol through his withdrawal from 2PM, and fan and idol alike became one entity. However, this honor can only be held in fandoms. 'Count on Me', although it'd had significant success, could not go up on the KBS ranks. This was because his management had requested, upon processing the public's emotions, that he be excluded from the rankings. In the press conference, there were still questions that asked him about his relationship with 2PM, and his antis spewed out attacks with the fact that his fanmeet prices were high. Jaebum, as if he knew of this atmosphere, looked slightly nervous through the whole press conference episode. He showed an extreme politeness, gathering up his two hands and bowing down to everyone who said hello to him. As of this moment, Jaebum's place in Korea is just carrying out activities with his fandom's support, but not so much that he could mould himself into the public masses. If this whole thing is a situation in which a idol from recent times has to earn both their fandom's and public's support to become a top star and consider getting commercials and going into other countries, he cannot be considered as fully returned to Korea.

Also, while his powerful fandom is his biggest strength, it can be the reason why he could be distanced from the public. As fandoms respond with more and more enthusiasm to Jaebum, the public questions whether if Jaebum really has that much reality. This could turn into anticipation for Jaebum at first, but it could also easily turn into treating him like foam, with a large volume but no substance. He could be told off with 'he's testing a lot of areas' (T/N: in the negative sense) if he appears in a regular movie or drama, rather than a dance movie like , which is being filmed right now, and if his music that he releases doesn't gain much, musically and publically, he could also be criticized as 'foam'. The fact that Jaebum could have taken up activities in Korea with the song 'Nothing on You' which took top place on Billboard charts is important. 'Nothing on You' was no doubt, a great song, and the song's sophisicated image went in sync with Korean-American vocalist and bboy-origin idol Jaebum. the thing that Jaebum needs right now is patting down his musical territory as a musician that does trendy music through operations like this. Also, Jaebum had never stood up as a solo on stage before the Naksan festival, and had never choreographed a stage dance other than breakdancing. In a situation like this, doing an activity that isn't carefully thought through with only his star abilities that put his fandom as a base is just jumping into an unverified territory.

The current Park Jaebum is the main character of a tragic legend in the idol world. The differences in temperature between the fandom and the public clearly exist. When he breaks through that and approaches the public, Park Jaebum can be considered as returned to the Korean society, rather than just the idol's world. Interestingly enough, he instinctively knows who had put him in his place right now, and what he has to do from this point. He said that "I want to work with many musicians". He has revealed that he is going to supplement his musical abilities through communicating with many artists like Kim Johan. The recent song from Brave Brothers 'I Want to Cry' that he participated in was a R&B track that had a luxurious feel to it, and could also accentuate his singing ability. The dark idol, who had lived the most dramatic of lives in idol history, and still cannot act as much as he wants. Would he be able to receive as much cheers from the public as much as from the fandom? After the clock of idols stopped at 1:59, the unheard era of idols has started.

Cube's CEO, "Jaebum's termination conference should have never happened"

As soon as rookie G.NA debuted as a singer and received her album, she wrote a thank you letter to her agency Cube Entertainment's CEO, Hong Seungsung (46). The letter starts with her calling him 'father.' The title remains true for Cube groups 4Minute and Beast as well. Although agency CEOs are usually called 'representative,' these groups call him 'father' without any hesitation.

Cube's CEO Hong Seungsung stated, "I try not to look like a representative to the kids." Maybe it is because of such reason that he appeared wearing jeans and sneakers despite being into his mid 40's.

How did Representative Hong earn 12 children? In a recent meeting at Kangnam, Seoul at the Cube office, he gave a hearty laughter. "One day, they just started calling me father. It's not something that happens often so I thought it was pretty cool. I think it's possible because we're able to open our feelings towards each other. I try to act like their father and the kids were able to feel that."

▶ Turning a '2nd place idol' into a '1st place idol' is the greatest feeling ever.

- When was Cube created?
"In the beginning of 2008. It's been about 3 years."

- Within 3 years, you've debuted 4Minute, Beast, G.Na, and others. Your growth rate is quite fast.
"I have 20 years of experience and know-hows under my belt. I can only be fast (laughter)."

Representative Hong worked in the music industry for 10 years and met singer and producer Park Jinyoung. They then went on to create JYP Entertainment and found stars such as Rain, Wonder Girls, 2PM, 2AM, and others.

- Why did you separate from JYPE?
"I worked with an extremely talented man named Park Jinyoung but I had my own music, future, and dreams that I needed to pursue. I also felt that there was a lot of improvement needed regarding our relationship with the singers. The owner of JYPE is Park Jinyoung so I couldn't do everything I wanted. And being in the industry for 10 years also makes you kind of lazy. I needed a new start. I also felt the need to take responsibility of the trainees that I raised and, like coincidence, 2PM and 2AM had a successful debut so the timing just felt right."

- 4Minute, Beast, and G.Na are now popular stars but they all have one thing in common.
"4Minute's Hyuna is from Wonder Girls and G.Na used to be the leader for a group called '5 Girls.' Beast's Kikwang was a solo, Hyunseung was eliminated from Big Bang, and Doojoon was eliminated from 2PM and 2AM. They're all kids that were tagged with '2nd place.' Seeing them made my heart hurt and I felt responsible. Of course they could have been eliminated because they lacked certain things but I think that's only subjective to perspective. Just because someone else doesn't want them doesn't mean they don't fit well here. And being in this industry for over 20 years, I've learned that skills aren't everything. Passion is important. Kids that have already gone through hardships have a different kind of determination and are stronger in the face of adversity."

- Did you purposely gather just the '2nd place' kids then?
"You can say it like that, I suppose. It's hard to find great talent when your company is just starting off so it was a tactical move but that isn't all there is to it. Being able to put a '2nd place' idol into '1st place' makes your efforts just that much greater and happier. I also trusted the kids enough to believe that they could do it. '2nd place' idols are strict with managing themselves. There can be singers that don't manage themselves but never an artist. There's a limit to everything if you don't manage yourself."

Omitted further information on Cube and Cube artists.
Briefly Summarized: All cube artists and trainees complete volunteer/charity work, character training, sex education, and counseling once a week because Representative Hong feels that the age singers are debuting at lately are much too young and feels responsible since the company is not raising just a star but also a child. This aids in helping them mature into responsible adults while preventing any attitude changes once they actually debut. Hong will never debut an idol with exceptional talent that lacks an upright character. Although everyone benefits from it, he chose Kikwang and Hyunseung as the members that learn the most from their weekly charity work and character training/counseling.

▶ "Jaebum's termination conference should have never happened"

- We heard that you have a briefing session once a month with all of the parents of your trainees.
"Problems arise when there isn't any trust between the company, the artist, and the parents. If there's no communication, the singer has no idea what he/she is supposed to be doing and the parents themselves will be nervous. That is why we reveal everything going on inside of our company to them. We show them what kind of training their children are receiving, how they're rehearsing, how much we're spending on music production, how much stage outfits cost, and etc. We also give in depth explanations on why we chose to put them in certain TV shows. The parents try to be understanding in return."

- You've been nicknamed as 'Hong Cube' amongst the fans. The fans are ecstatic that you listen and apply their opinions so well and that you're the first agency to do so.
"The status of the mass public has been raised and their decision making skills are very accurate. I find the answer to my problems in the mass public more often than not. Fans have a tendency to believe whatever the singer does or doesn't do and vice versa for the company. So whatever our company does, we try to let the fans know. For our company, the fandom is our greatest strength. Because of that, we try our best to look out for the opinions and reactions of the fans and converse with them often."

- Do you really reflect the ideas and opinions of the fans?
"Of course. I monitor the fans a lot especially during comeback time. If you see any changes in hair styles, outfit concepts, or performances in the middle of a promotion, it's because we've listened and are attempting to reflect the fans' desires. (laughter) My decisions cannot always be 100% right so I try to accommodate accordingly."

- When JYPE terminated Jaebum, there was huge backlash from the fans because their opinions were ignored.
"If such a situation happened at Cube, we would have handled it differently. First of all, I do agree that sending Jaebum to America was the right decision when his Myspace posts became controversial. It was needed in order to progress with the rest of the process. But furthermore, if the company wasn't able to tell or explain the "answer," holding a conference should have been out of the question. How can any one expect any fan to be understanding in a conference with no answers? Yes, they could have been in a situation where they couldn't say the answer but if that was the case, the conference should have never happened then. And there's also a very big problem with the fact that the members themselves stated at the conference that they 'could no longer work with him because they are the victims.' It would have been better if they just stated, 'We would like to work together but had to separate because we did not want to bring harm to one another' and left it at that. Regardless, I'm a bit disappointed because I feel that they should have at least attempted to protect their own leader at least once."

Jaebum uploaded a video on the 15th on his personal Youtube and became embroiled in a 2PM and JYPE 'diss controversy' due to his lyrics.

On the 16th, an associate of Sidus HQ spoke with Star News and stated, "Jaebum has stated countless of times in interviews that he is willing to have a good reationship with 2PM and JYPE. The rap lyrics are not attacking 2PM and JYPE at all."

He went on to state, "Both sides are doing great, there is no reason for him to come out and (attack them now)."

The associate revealed, "The lyrics are associated with the movie. It is definitely NOT an attack on 2PM and JYPE like the controversy is saying."

The aggressive lyrics of the rap video Jaebum revealed on the 15th state, "You can't pull me down. You tried to send me away but I came back like a hero. They were envious of me and wanted me to bleed but I won't ever lose to something as pathetic as jealousy."
