[NEWS] 100504 Hype Nation met with obstacles with b-boys evading military

Jaebum's comeback movie 'Hype Nation' has been hit with an obstacle.

After a b-boy team's military secret was revealed, it seems as if their service will bring impact the movie. An associate of the b-boy team stated, "On the 3rd, Hwang was arrested for evading military service. He was a big character in and also a friend of Jaebum. Since it is a movie about b-boys, b-boys within Korea were cast. However, with this controversy, the b-boy will not be appearing and it seems as if the movie will be met with some difficulty."

Hwang is the leader of the b-boy team and even won first place at an international b-boy competition with his team. He's appeared on various broadcast academies and even taught dance, a popular name amongst fellow b-boys.

However, he recently received an exemption from the military due to psychological problems and the rest of his b-boy teammates soon followed in his steps, evading their military service by faking psychological problems. Once the truth was revealed, him and his team has been receiving the cold, harsh critiques of society. On the 4th, Hwang wrote on his homepage, "I apologize for disrupting society." Although he apologized, the hatred has yet to stop.

Hwang has been terminated from with this controversy. The movie originally had a plot about a world wide b-boy competition opening in Seoul. Jaebum and his team was set to enter the competition, along with various other Korean b-boy teams. Amongst them, Hwang was to take the spotlight. With Jaebum's casting confirmation, the team was set to record. Hwang was to be one of the movie's main characters. The movie production team feels unfortunate about the situation but has been trying to minimize the damage as much as possible.

Jason Lee has stated, "Unfortunately, Hwang will not be joining us for the movie. Because he's disrupted society so severely, we have decided that it would affect us negatively to include him in the movie. It will impact the production of the movie but there's nothing we can do about it. I don't think there will be any big problems. We are preparing as best as we can with other b-boy teams."

This controversy is HUGE in Korea right now. Hwang faked a mental disorder in order to receive an exemption from his mandatory service. The rest of his b-boy team faked it also, receiving their own exemptions.
