Mini Showcase Jay Park in Jakarta

Meet up and Charity!

On December 6th 2010, Nusa Indah Theater Balai Kartini was packed with Indonesian Jaywalkers. They had been queuing since noon just to see Jay Park, former leader of 2PM, Mini Showcase.

The showcase held by a guy with the real name Park Jae bum starting around 7.00 PM.
Before Jay Park showed up, Jaywalkers had been screaming out his name, making
the euphoria in Nusa Indah Theater different than usual. Half of the earnings from
ticket sales of Jay Park's Mini Showcase with the theme “Pray for Indonesia” will be
donated to the victims of natural disasters in Indonesia.

The day before, December 5th 2010, Jay Park also held a press conference at the
Ritz Carlton Hotel in Kuningan. At the press conference, Jay Park came along with
Daniel Jerome and Andrew Baterina, two dancers from Art of Movement who
accompanied Jay Park for the showcase.*

In the press conference, Jay not only informed everyone that he will perform 3 songs at the showcase, he also said that he will give a surprise for the fans. Other than that, Jay’s english is perfect since he was raised in the United States. Jay, born on April 25th 1987, also felt thankful to all the fans that greeted him earlier that day in the airport. “They are creepy. Excited to see them.. Thank you for coming to the airport.”

Jay also answered a lot of questions given by the reporters, from his dreams to his music career. Jay admits that his dreams are to make his family and friends happy and that he's willing to do anything for their happiness. He has been busy preparing for his new album that will be released next year. Jay Park also announced that his new upcoming movie along with actor Kim Soo Ro, Happy Together, that will be out in January of 2011.

Pink Underwear Everywhere

The light goes off, the stage is darkened. The audience is getting more excited and impatient to see Jay Park live. Before the MC finished could finish telling people to scream out “Jay Park”, suddenly the Korean version of “Nothing on You” played and the Aries guy finally got up on stage. Jay Park looked extremely stunning, wearing a white jacket, black t-shirt, blue jeans and a belt with JP written on it.

The more or less 500 Jaywalkers who attended the showcase practically sang along. Especially since this was Jay Park’s first song when he decided to do a solo career. That is why the re-arranged song that originally belongs to B.o.B is pretty
familiar to the fans.

After “Nothing on You”, the showcase continues with a talking session with Jay Park.

In this session, all reporters were asked to leave the hall. The MC asked Jay Park various questions, from his ideal type to what he usually does in his spare time. Jay Park who doesn’t want to be questioned about his personal life, said that he’s not picky when it comes to girls, but he still prefers Asian girls. This was an answer that made the audience, which were majority of girls, go hysteric.

Not only asking about Jay’s ideal type, the MC also asked Daniel Jerome and Andrew Baterina. She was curious about the rumor saying that Jay has lots of pink underwear. There was a pause before they finally answer, “Ummm… yes! Yup!" Even though Jay is 100% a guy, he also loves pink underwear. Daniel Jerome also described Jay in one word: “amazing”. They thought Jay is a person who is multi-talented, from dancing, singing, to breakdancing that many people are not able to do.

The 5 lucky Jaywalkers

The showcase started to heat up when the game session started. Five lucky Jaywalkers got a chance to go up on stage. Based on the seat number lucky drawing the “eyeball” the first two lucky fans were asked to come up on stage.

Jay Park picked the seat numbers of two lucky fans. He looked so serious when he was drawing the first person, but it turns out he drew a fan that was wearing a mask which made everyone laugh. For the next person, Jay’s drawing was a scenery and a dot to represent the fan. But the fun is Jay Park signed all the drawings and gave special hugs to the lucky fans.

The next games session, Jay drew another two seat numbers. This time the staff already prepared scrolls of paper written with body parts. Jay and the fan will each take one paper and they will touch each other through the body parts chosen and it will be captured with polaroid camera. Jay’s first paper, said “forehead” while the fan’s said “knee” so they must do it according to what the papers says. The MC got worried, but Jay said, “It’s up to her. This is a game, so it’s only for fun.”

The Games were so much fun!

Jay Park then down on his knee and giving out his forehead. “You’re not gonna kick my forehead are you?” asked Jay to the fan standing in front of him. The Jaywalker who was happy suddenly hesitated and not dare to put her knee on Jay’s forehead. But even though it’s awkward, they did it anyway and Jay was playing around, acting like he got hit really hard and fell down while the audience laughed with him.

When it’s the second Jaywalker's turn, strangely the papers they choose are the opposite from the first game. She didn’t have to kick Jay’s forehead, but she touched Jay’s knee with her forehead. Without further ado, she got down to her knee, and giving out her forehead when once again, Jay is pretending as if he wants to kick the fan’s forehead. But finally he press his knee to the fan’s forehead and those funny moments got captured with Polaroid camera and got signed by Jay Park.

In the last game session, Jay Park only took one name. You can call this session as the grand prize since the lucky fan could ask Jay to do anything she wants. Finally she asked Jay to sing and dance just for her. Jay serenade her an English slow song and kept staring at the lucky fan. But she was too embarrassed, so she covered her face the whole time. At the end of the song, Jay gave a warm hug to her and made the audience scream hysterically.

Showing his Abs

After the talking and games session, Jay Park continues the mini showcase by performing You Got it Bad and Demon, this time along with Daniel Jerome and Andrew Baterina, two dancers from AOM.* Jay was showing off his dance capabilities, using the standing microphone as his prop.

He pushed, dropped, put the standing mic right back up with a very beautiful choreography. Jay Park also performed his latest single, Bestie with all Jaywalkers singing along with him. Nusa Indah Theatre heated up that night.

For the final act, Jay Park and his two best friend dancers, took turns to dance freestyle on the center of the stage. Jay Park showed off his amazing dance techniques. Sometimes he flashed his chocolate bar abs, which made Jaywalkers hysterical again. After that, the mini showcase is finally over.

At the end of the show, Jay Park came out on stage once more to hand over the donation to the representative of PMI. Oh and other than the profit from the ticket selling, the Korean Jaywalkers who have been following Jay throughout his Fanmeet Tour also gave their donation to the victims of natural disasters in Indonesia. Note from Phoenix22:
I came to the show, and some part of the news here is not entirely correct and I
think the reporter didn’t know that Andrew is from Soreal Crew not AOM. I just
translate it directly from the news, and I’m sorry about the translation! it’s a lil bit
awkward, I’m having a hard time since the news was from a magazine for teens so
they use a lot of slang words. LOL. Last but not least, thanks to beomnoona for the
tip about the news!

Some of the words used are slang words, so don't take certain sentences literally. lol
Thank you Nasha for translating this lengthy article =)
