[INFO] 100314 International Fan Voices Opinion on 2PM's schedule for Hollywood Bowl

TN Note: THESE ARE MY OWN TRANSLATIONS. I SWEAR THEY ARE NOT BIASED (except for being "biased by human nature" as someone accused me of the other day -________-)
QUOTE
You guys know about the Hollywood Bowl concert in L.A. in May, right? There are a lot of fans who have already bought their tickets, but we cannot allow the arrogant and rude 2PM and their company JYP Ent., who look look down upon and take advantage of their fans, come to America to perform if we think about the scars they have given the international fans. The international fans and Koreans abroad should voice out their opinion on this situation by protesting to the people in charge of the Hollywood Bowl concert, Korea Times. You may email them at opinion@koreatimes.com. Here is an example email a Korean living abroad wrote.

Hello. I am a Korean living abroad who came to the States 20 years ago, a mother of two children, and a school teacher. Last year September, I felt very sympathetic toward Jaebum Park and how his words during his hard times, which were written in a private online space, got hacked by an immature fan, and how those words were mistranslated and sent to a news reporter, who then revealed it to the public until it became a social issue. Jaebum’s slang words were misinterpreted and because he was a 3rd generation foreigner, many words such as “Foreigners, as Koreans, should raise their children the right way”, “Yankee, go home!!!”, “Go kill yourself”, “If you serve your time in the military, I will forgive you”, “If you’re American, go make money in America” and other unspeakable words were thrown at him and made him leave Korea within 3 days.

After time passed, the Korean public learned of the misinterpretation and the misunderstanding was cleared, which made many of them realize how sincere he was and how proudly he felt about Korea, and raised their voices about Jaebum’s return to JYP Ent. At this time, Jaebum Park’s CEO, JinYoung Park (JYP), stated on a television show that Jaebum Park will be returning to 2PM and that 2PM’s 1st album’s name, 1:59PM, was in grief for Jaebum; 2PM also filmed many advertisements and commercials, giving hope to all of 2PM’s fans.

After all this, on February 25, JYPE announced Jaebum Park’s official withdrawal from 2PM. The reason stated was Jaebum’s serious personal life issues and that it could not be revealed, but it does not go against the law – it is just morally wrong. Also, at the conference they held with 90 invited fans, they damaged Jaebum’s reputation, so that he could no longer come back to Korea as a celebrity. They also lost their stance at the conference and showed arrogant, rude, and insincere actions to their fans, and also mercilessly threw away a member who once was their leader.

The people who know of Jaebum Park know how sincere and responsible he was and trust him infinitely. Even if Jaebum had a seriously problem in his personal life, what do you think of the situation in which the company he worked for and the members he thought were closer than true brothers made Jaebum international trash and damaged his image so greatly so that he could not return to Korea as a celebrity? I am suspicious of that company and that company’s singers’ personality and characters (directed literally – context wise, she means she can’t trust them anymore). A group who throws away a member for their own success should not be called singers and there shouldn’t be a case in which we scream (at concerts) and show support for them and allow our children to become a part of them (she means through their performance, like how fans and the group “become one” when the singer is on stage).

I also think that company’s annual world audition should be stopped. In this series of auditions in 2004, Jaebum Park was the only foreigner JinYoung Park picked up, and JinYoung Park promised to take care of this young high schooler’s life and took him to Korea and put him through a lot of hard times, but eventually kicked him out and sent him back to America within 1 year of debut. Not a single person took care of him, and instead mercilessly threw him away in worry that he would bring damage to the company.

If the society we live in has justice and righteousness, in the name of that justice, we have to judge JYP Entertainment. The fact that Korea Times, as a spokesperson for our Koreans living abroad community, is the sponsor and host for an event using singers from such a company is very disappointing, and I ask that you take 2PM out of the list of guest singers. And if this doesn’t happen, I declare to boycott against Korea Times. Lastly, I believe that you will listen to this sincere favor I ask of you as a Korean foreigner and a mother. Thank you for your time.

I actually sent one myself yesterday. I am an annual attender of the Hollywood Bowl, and always buy tickets for the Pool Circle seats or the Garden seats. But this year, I waited before buying tickets right away because I didn't want to go if 2PM showed up. And what do you know? The "top stars" are coming. I'm sorry to say this, but I am very glad I am not going because seeing them so confident on stage without their leader, ESPECIALLY in front of an audience they turned into trash (how Koreans in Korea view Koreans abroad) would have ruined my day.

I just wanted to let you guys know how the Korean fans are acting to this. If any of you are planning to email Korea Times, I'm sure they can read and understand English, but if you want help sending an email in Korean, feel free to contact me.
