'King Park' Park Jinyoung's endless challenges and successes... and their meaning!
Where do the dreams of 'King Park' Park Jinyoung reach?
That is the question that Korean music producers have asked themselves as they watch the sweeping success of 4-member rookie girl group miss A. miss A has managed to win awards on public broadcast shows such as KBS2 'Music Bank' and cable show M.net M Countdown within 20 days since their debut.
After miss A's debut track "Bad Girl Good Girl" took #1, they've stated that they would like to "thank Park Jinyoung PD and their JYP family." That is how strong the power of producer Park Jinyoung is.
The success of miss A has once again let the world know that the owner of JYPE, producer Park Jinyoung, is still in the game. He has recently discovered superb groups such as the Wonder Girls, 2PM, and 2AM and has managed to raise them into top stars. However, due to a few cases such as the 'Jaebum Controversy' and 'Sunye Controversy,' Park Jinyoung had to face the threats of fans. They were unreasonable threats to him and he did not pay them any attention.
When reporters recently asked Park Jinyoung what he thought of Jaebum moving agencies to Sidus HQ, he stated, "Regardless of what's happened before, I want him to do well. It's about time that he and I both left in search of new hope." Park Jinyoung has made it clear that he will no longer obsess over the past and that he will be attempting new challenges once more. His musical talent has already been confirmed to the mass public with self produced miss A's #1 awards on KBS and others.
The success of miss A is also being regarded as a new fire of light to the Hallyu wave. Two of the four members are Chinese and are regarded as the 'female warriors' that Park Jinyoung searched China for. Now that they are the new necessities of the Hallyu wave, Park Jinyoung's dreams have finally began to ripen.
Their popularity within China is also a force to be reckoned with. An expo event in Shanghai, China has already invited miss A, Park Jinyoung, and 2PM.
His 'big group lead' management is also taking shape. The 'big group lead' is a management style that has a big group take the lead and pave the path for other smaller groups to follow through. Such an example is Samsung's electronic appliances giving name to Korea all over the world, thus allowing other brands to be launched internationally under its wings.
Many music industry associates paid tribute to the big group lead management as they watched miss A confidently win #1 on TV. "It's a result that shows the strength of the 3 big managements of Korea: JYP, SM, and YG. The amount of power they hold is extraordinary. Once their content receives the strength of the entire world, other producers will naturally be able to fit under the halo."
SME's girl group f(x) has been receiving much popularity as well along with YGE's Se7en's album release, currently running at the top with his digital album sales.
The same associate stated, "It's easy to feel the power of SM, YG, and JYP. In a positive way, of course. Their well made star system with amazing music content and the stars they've discovered have allowed them to stand where they are now. The #1 that miss A has won today has allowed us once more to feel their power."
Of course, there aren't just rose colored lenses gazing at the #1 of miss A.
Smaller producers have been showing disappointment with the notion that 'only large companies can succeed.' Larger companies use their success as a leverage to take over broadcast companies from everything right down to the castings. Broadcast companies cannot dare ignore them, creating instances where only the singers from the largest companies are cast into the music programs first.
However, despite such remarks, Park Jinyoung's recent production is nothing short of amazing.
He was able to discover new talent for a kpop market in recession, giving a new surge of possibility into the market. He's shown the superb quality of our music overseas, giving a deeper meaning to the 'new possibilities of Hallyu.'
It is now time that we watch where his endless challenges will take him.
