Sexually suggestive scenes at 2PM’s concert

Sexually suggestive scenes at 2PM’s concert

Six-member 2PM once again proved itself one of the most popular groups with their smashing success at their first independent concert last weekend.

However, some lewd moments during the concert became the center of controversy afterwards. “They went too far to stress their ‘beast-idol’ image,” commented a female netizen who was at the concert.

Many complaints targeted obscene gestures during the song “Tired of Waiting.” Each of the members paired up with a scantily dressed dancer and in the middle of the song, they mimicked sexual actions while the female dancers were lying down. Also, the dancers looked as if they were kissing various body parts of the members every now and then.

One might expect then that there might have been some restrictions on the audience’s age in order to perform such inappropriate moves. Yet the age limit was preposterously low. The website of eBay Auction, which was exclusively in charge of the ticket sales, rated the concert “ages eight and over.”

The Korea Media Rating Board claims to take little responsibility. “The board is not required to pre-rate performances such as concerts,” said an official on the board. According to the board, the only concerts that are rated beforehand are those by international celebrities visiting Korea.

JYP Entertainment, 2PM’s agency, has remained silent. It has not made any official statement. JYP seems to plan to stick to its original repertory for 2PM’s concert in Busan. “I'm very excited for the concert in Busan!!! Hehe,” posted Nick Khun, a member of 2PM, on Twitter Wednesday.

While JYP remains adamant, netizens are currently petitioning for necessary regulations online at Daum Agora’s petition board. A total of 2,959 netizens have signed the petitions as of now.
