[NEWS] 100310 '2PM boycott movement' after effect? There is no such thing

T/N: Fans DID NOT vandalize the store window. The article states that it was merely a rumor that circulated with the photo below. Do not blame the Hottests for something they haven't done. Thank you.

'2PM boycott movement' after effect? There is no such thing

Part of the 2PM fans are boycotting after the announcement of 2PM's ex-leader Jaebum's withdrawal. However it was revealed that there wasn't much effect in the actual sales.

After the announcement of Jaebum's contract termination due to his personal life, passionate fans have determined to boycott products that use 2PM as models. It was to show that they were against any 2PM activities that excluded Jaebum.

It was the recurrence of the last boycott movement held when Jaebum had withdrawn in September after his Myspace controversy.

The 2PM fanclub Hottest have announced on February 27th, after the conference with JYP that, "We will boycott the 8 products and its company's affiliates that have used 2PM members without Jaebum as models."

Futhermore, some fans have stated, "We are not watching any programs with 2PM in it, not downloading 2PM songs, not purchasing the album, and not buying products that advertise with 2PM which includes Coca-cola, Market-O (Orion), Spris etc."

"We are calling the company once a day or sending them emails stating , 'Because of the boycott, your product will not sell, so change the model'. The boycotting fans have claimed that because of these activities, the Samsung Corby phone has changed its models from 2PM to 2NE1.

However, the truth is different from this. 2PM is the model for the Corby full-touch phone while 2NE1 is the model for the new folding style Corby Phone F.

Canned coffee Santa Fe and Korea Yogurt companies have also stated that after using 2PM as models, their sales have increased.

A related staff for the company stated, "Last year in September, Jaebum's fans have faxed us letters of complaints, and called the customer relations causing temporary shutdown." However, they went on to state, "I don't know if it's the noise marketing, but the actual sales have increased to 70%."

Furthermore, they explained that the reason why they had announced on their homepage on March 2nd, that they have terminated the contract with 2PM was "To prevent any further obstruction to the business."

The clothing company, Spris, who used the slogan, 'This is 2PM style', has also suffered from malicious rumors. This was after the 'Spris store attack' photo had circulated online. This photo was circulated with the rumor that the store window was broken because 2PM fans have terrorized it.

The company stated, "We get complaint letters or phonecalls, and some fans actually come to the store and appeal to us, but there are no fans that have used violence." They went on to add, "Other companies (that have used 2PM as models) must be the same, but this kind of atmosphere isn't enough to actually affect the sales."

Furthermore, the staff from the store explained, "There was a crack in the glass around February, so we put up a tape temporarily to fix it in March, but a completely unrelated rumor started circulating."
